How We Operate

At TorranceLearning, how we work is just as important as what we deliver. Our team, our clients, and our communities deserve thoughtful, responsible, and human-centered work. Our principles guide us as we grow, partner, and lead in a changing world.

Our Mission & Core Values

Our mission is simple and powerful: To help people everywhere become competent and confident so they can do their very best work. We believe in the power of learning to uplift individuals, teams & organizations—equipping them to grow, contribute, and perform at their best.

That belief is supported by our core values:

True + Kind + Necessary

We communicate with honesty, empathy, and clarity.

Generous Collaboration

We bring our talents to the table and share them freely. Whether it's knowledge, creativity, or support, we contribute with humility and curiosity.

All Hands on Deck

We pitch in where needed and take responsibility for the outcome. “That’s not our job” is not in our vocabulary.

People First

We make decisions with people at the center: our learners, clients, partners, and teammates.

Pragmatic Creativities

We bring practical solutions to complex challenges, powered by creativity and guided by purpose.

Right. On Time.

We deliver high-quality work that meets the real needs of our clients—on time, on target, and ready to make an impact.

Opportunity For All

Core Values: People First

We design learning experiences with intention—supporting access, growth, and opportunity for every learner. No matter their starting point, role, or lived experience, we believe everyone deserves a fair shot at success.

Our learning solutions are built to meet people where they are, with accessible design, learner-centered strategies, and broad perspectives. We continuously ask: Will this work for real people in real situations?—and we design accordingly.

Responsible Innovation

Core Values: Pragmatic Creativities + True + Kind + Necessary

We’re excited about what’s possible—and thoughtful about what’s responsible. As AI and other emerging technologies reshape the workplace, we lead with care and clarity.

Our approach is guided by our W.I.S.E. A.T. A.I. framework, which outlines our commitment to Wisdom, Inclusivity, Security, Equity, Accountability, and Transparency in how we adopt, deploy, and educate around AI in the workplace.

We help organizations harness innovation to improve performance—without losing sight of their people, values, or long-term goals.

Sustainability in Practice

Core Values: All Hands on Deck

We take a practical approach to sustainability. As a distributed, digital-first company, we reduce our footprint by limiting travel, embracing remote collaboration, and making intentional choices when we do gather.

When we host in-person events, we prioritize local vendors, reuse materials where possible, and minimize waste. We see sustainability not as a campaign, but as a shared responsibility woven into how we work every day.

We’re also a Washtenaw County Waste Knot partner.

A Culture of Care

CORE VALUE: Generous Collaboration + People First + Right. On Time.

We care deeply about the well-being and growth of our team—and we act on it. That includes:

  • Open Book Management – Every month, the full team reviews our financials and key performance indicators.
  • Professional Development – We provide learning opportunities, stretch assignments, and space to grow.
  • Respect for Applicants – We don’t ghost job candidates. Every applicant gets a response and closure.

We also take pride in delivering for our clients. That means not just excellent work—but excellent work delivered on time. We know that trust is built through consistent follow-through, and we work hard to earn that trust, project after project.

Giving Back

Core Values: Generous Collaboration

We support organizations and individuals by sharing what we know and creating space for others to grow. This includes our partnership with Year Up, helping young adults build the skills and experience they need to thrive in their careers.

We also mentor early-career professionals, contribute actively to the learning and development community, and foster learning networks that connect people across industries and perspectives. Because collaboration isn’t just about what we give—it’s also about what we’re open to learning along the way.

How We Hold Ourselves Accountable

We review our commitments regularly—not just to feel good, but to ensure they show up in how we work, who we hire, and what we build. Our goal is not perfection, but consistent reflection and action.
